Crew/Cast/Jefferson residents-WHERE WAS THIS FILMED?

LOVE the house. I did read in my investigation that the crew believed house used to be haunted. There are 60 B&Bs in Jefferson. Whose house was used?

I heard it was filmed in a big house in Texas, not sure if it's outside of Dallas, Houston or Austin, but that is what I heard anyway! I think the same director, who also did 'Don't Look in the Basement' may have filmed THAT in the same house or neighborhood as well!
Of the 2, I like 'Basement' better, it's about a mental ward in a big ole house, w/ all sortsa crazies walking around, a woman cradling a doll as if it were alive, all sorts of creeps in that one! I haven't even finished watching Don't Open the Door yet, but both seem very similar.

I own both these movies now. Door was filmed in Jefferson. I'm sure it's a historically preserved property if not an actual B&B now. Shooting was in '74. What it was then I don't know.

In the beginning of the movie they actually call it by its name "The House of the Seasons." I looked it up in Jefferson and the disappointing part is it is a B & B...but you can't stay in it. You actually stay in the gate house and only a meal is served to you in the actual house the movie was filmed in. In my opinion, that is a raw deal. Why go to stay there if you can't even stay in the real house? Apparently the guest houses have hot tubs in them and that gets the guests all excited about not getting to stay in the more famous area of the property, one must note that the reviews I read are close to ten years old. Those hot tubs are probably all gone by now.

I don't believe in ghost shlit but it's fun. Jefferson's Grove Hotel is reputed to be haunted, esp Room 19. I would like to know where the Post estate is tho.
