confused?

Just finished watching this movie for the first time. I am a bit confused at the ending. What did the killer say when she picked up the phone for the last time? Then she sat back down in the chair laughing. Did she totally loose her mind at that point? Explain please!

Well, the first time I saw the movie was in 1996...I was having a really good time with friends back in the day so my memory is foggy. LOL BUT, I purchased the movie and was feeling nostalgic about the fun I used to have in the 90s I re-watched it. All the Miss Post heavy breathing didn't crack me up this time...not sure what he said to her at the end but at that point she was cracked because she killed her on again/off again boyfriend instead of the real killer. The rest is left for us to decide. I imagine Claude jumped out and tried to have his way with her, but he was obviously impotent so nothing was likely to happen. I then fortell that Claude gets the house and all of its contents for his museum because he drafted a fake will and all the murders (including Miss Posts' mother) are ultimately blamed on Amanda. She ends up living in an asylum but one day with therapy she will head back to Allerton to seek revenge on Claude and his limp noodle. IMO

He says to her "Now, shall we continue, Miss Post?" The fact that Amanda didn't know who the caller was made her suspect everyone--if you remember, she even suspected Judge Stemple's *wife* Annie, at one point. At the end of the movie, she has killed the last person she thought was the caller, and then the phone rings and it's him. In other words, now she knows she killed an innocent man. So yes, she was having a breakdown, which is what the mysterious caller really wanted all along, was to make her unbalanced.
