im looking for the title of a film
the very first scene is of the mother and her child probably
under 5,in the kitchen, there is a knock at the front door which
is in the kitchen and the mum answers it and its a man and he
set her on fire and she burns to death as her daughter
backs away frightened under the table

thats all i remember

i saw this scene when i was at a friends place in maybe 95
the vid store had put this in the wrong case and they watched
this anyway

No, this is not the same film you're referencing. In this film, Donny's sadistic mother punishes him when he's a little boy by holding his arms over the stove burners and burning him in the flames. As a result, Donny grows up to become a woman-hating serial killer who gets his payback by luring attractive, young women into his home and burning them alive with a flamethrower.
