Was Donny gay?

I am sure that it is an important part of the plot. I had my suspicions but it finally became clear during the scene in the men's clothing store. I just can't figure out how his homosexuality ties in with his motivations or why the movie needed to have multiple scenes where his sexuality is questioned (locker room scene, phone call with Bob, men's clothing store).

Educate me. That "whoosh" sound you hear is yet another movie going right over my head!

Doubtful. Killers typically prey on the objects of their desires. I think Donnie loved women but his inner demons wouldn't allow him.

reply

He really could have been either. The movie leaves it open to interpretation. He did have a reaction when his boss called him a homophobic slur. But his relationship with women was so screwed up due to Mother Dearest.

I like the fact they never truly tell you.

"He did have a reaction when his boss called him a homophobic slur."

==But a gay guy and a straight guy would not like such a comment.

reply

No! Would a gay man want to see naked women hanging on chains?

I don't see his sexuality as important to the plot.

I think his sexuality was far more in the realms of being "broken". If he was gay, then he never really showed an interest in men. He don' think he could function in any sexual realm appropriately.

reply

He was definitely flaming.

reply

If so, then why were his victims female? Repressed-homosexual serial killers IRL typically target males exclusively (think Dahmer, Gacy).

Did you mean to reply to me or to the OP?

reply

To you. Unless you were kidding with your comment. 

reply

Yes. "Flaming" ... just a (bad) joke. Haha. Sorry.

LOL

reply

Nah, just a psychotic Mama's Boy.

How was his sexuality questioned in the clothing store scene? Was it made clear that the guy helping him supposed to be gay? He was great btw, one of the best scenes in the flick. "Great styling". "I think it's a dynamite outfit". Love the scenario of going into a department store and this guy who knows his shit and sincerely wants to help picking out a complete dynamite ensemble for you and then immediately wearing it the disco lol.
