Compare 1980 to 2007 Bette

I loved how Bette mixed it up from singing punk to impersonations of old Jewish comics. She reminded me a lot of both Liza Minelli and Kathy Griffin.

Liza because of being a multi-talented entertainer and throwing herself into her performance as if it is the last one she's going to ever give.

Kathy because of the camp and inside gay culture references. I guess when I was younger, that side of her act flew over my head.

Plus she seemed to be good friends with her backup singers. At times it was like a bunch of woman buddies on stage singing and the audience just happened to be listening in.

Like someone mentioned in the comments, Ms. Midler has definitely streamlined and "professionalized" her performance skills over the years, but this younger Bette was still entertaining.

I was surprised to see how much skin she was flashing back in her mid 30s. She certainly doesn't need to do that these days.
