the 2nd amendment...

Loved the movie since I was a kid. But I remember when Danny Aiello's character said he wanted to get a gun for protection the cop shut him down. One of the reasons crime can get that out of hand is when good people can not protect themselves from criminals that are going to break the law no matter what.

To this day cities like Chicago, Detroit, and DC have very strict gun control laws and very high crime rates. And where concealed carry is legal crime is low. Why? Because grandma might be packing.

We were always told that is people are allowed to protect themselves it would be the wild west, like gunfight at the OK corral......it has never happened.

Be responsible for your own safety, the police are a reactionary force by design.

And no, I do not work for the NRA !!! :)

Thanks for taking a great movie and using it as a soap box for you agenda. Go somewhere else with you nonsense. There are thousands of more appropriate websites than imdb

Poppycock!! Detroit, and Michigan, in General have "shall issue" laws. Both Good AND Bad Guys in the D have Guns, and, occasionally, they ARE used to Good purpose...

But I would hardly call the crime rate Low.

GMCKINST-1......don't worry about the angry, hateful, intolerant, fascist liberal trying to shut down your comment about guns. I thought the same thing as you the moment that scene happened, when the cop got so upset that Aiello's character wanted a gun to protect himself. That scene actually caught the tone of the city at that time toward guns owned by law-abiding citizens. I thought it was quite queer. Oh, oh, did I offend a liberal there?
