I can't understand why it hasn't. There are much worse films on DVD, which I wouldn't have thought anyone would want to buy. I suggest someone release a limited edition version of it at least, in widescreen and with an isolated music score, the soundtrack is wicked too.
Well, actually something is wrong with video; as is the case with most releases of the time the film is not presented in it's original aspect ratio and people who are really fans of the film want it in widescreen. Supposeably the Japanese disc is anamorphic widescreen but I haven't gotten around to ordering mine yet so I can't give any answers on the overall quality of the disc.
"I've seen things in this city that make Dante's Inferno read like Winnie The Pooh."
DEATH SHIP has been released in Germany by X-Rated DVD. It is widescreen in English, with unremoveable German Subtitles. the quality is MUCH better than the US VHS I've had for years. If only you could turn the subtitles off. I like this movie because it is a product of the the Early 80's (my personal favorite years of horror), but the truth is, the movie is not really scary at all.
There doesn't seem to be a DVD release of DEATH SHIP in AUSTRALIA yet, which is why i havn't gotten rid of the original VHS version yet i just don't play it often to try and preserve it.(it's getting pretty snowy kind) I think the only problem with the movie i found is that it should have english subtitles only for the german speaking intercom on the ship. i wouldn't mind hearing what the ghosts are talking about. it's amazing that no-one came up with a sequel because the movie did finish one story unlike ghost ship where they actually sent the ship to the bottom a DVD version would be great with such things as "the making of" profiles on cast, crew & actors and what and where are they now.
