Did he want to bang Ted?

This is the impression that I get now that I'm re-watching this film. Especially when he said "Oh Ted I wish I could help ya, do something for ya".
And I don't understand why he would beat up his roommate as well. It feels like a lot of story was missing, so much so that bits of this film don't even really make sense.

No. He was just sad because Ted's life seemed like crap to him. He was thinking sending Ted to ex-gay therapy, not *beep* him.
Gregory gave him lip so he reacted like a red blooded straight guy would. Another gay guy wouldn't have retaliated like that.
It was obvious all along how woefully he misunderstood the whole gay scene, like assuming that a twink like Billy Hicks would have been the killer, oh please
