Does anyone think the movie kinda trivialises domestic violence?

I know it's a true story, but in real life they got divorced. It could've shown that, but instead it showed them living happily ever after.

They didn’t get divorced.

That's so weird, I was sure I remembered reading that they did, I must be going crazy. However, I still think it was a little odd for it to end the way it did, considering what a terrible husband he was.

They didn't get divorced. Loretta stayed with Doo until he died. Also, she said that he never hit her. So, the instances of that happening in the movie are BS. However, he was an alcoholic who would get drunk, and cheat on her. She did say that he believed in her absolutely, and it was because of him pushing her that she was able to become famous.

Alcoholism is a terrible disease/illness/mental disorder. My uncle was an alcoholic, and (like Doo) he cheated on his wife whenever he got drunk. Eventually, he got sober, and never cheated on her again.

Where did you hear she said he never hit her? That is absolutely false. Loretta Lynn not only talks about getting hit by her husband, but also talks retaliating against him (despite it not being shown in the movie).

She is even quoted saying, "Everytime Doo smacked me, he smacked hit twice."

As disturbing as the domestic violence scenes are, the way the movie registered to me was simply telling their relationship as it was without taking any kind of moral stance on it.

Anyway, I already know that domestic violence wrong, so I don't need the movie to go out of its way to tell me that. Just as long as they don't advocate in favor of domestic violence, I can stand an objective depiction. Hell, I even prefer it that way, granted that it's based on accuracy and solid truth.
