Been a while since I've seen it, but I can't remember Crystal Gayle being portrayed or named in this film at all. I know it's Loretta's film, but surely the fact her sister also became a famous and successful Country singer should have been touched on as well?
shareFrom what I heard, Crystal was born, long after Loretta had married Doolittle. The movie doesn't focus much on Loretta's parents, after she left home, save for a few parts, ie: Loretta being sent back by Doo, her father's funeral, and leaving her children with her mama.

Loretta told Crystal very early in her career to find her own sound, which was wonderful advice. They have a sister named Peggy Sue who is also a great singer, but sounded a little too much like Loretta for the record companies. Peggy is one of the sweetest people you would ever meet and she is also responsible for writing a couple of the hit songs, so she has done well herself.

shareNo, Crystal was born after Loretta left home and married. She was not the little girl laying in bed with the parents or the baby Loretta was rocking outside. Crystal was born in Indiana and never had any of the Appalachian influence Loretta did, hence the lack of a southern accent and more favor with pop tunes.
