Maybe this film needs an update.

Maybe they should do a "sequel" to the Club, where the film is more of an update on how today's footy has panned out.

This was made in 1980. In the last 30 years, so much has changed in VFL/AFL football. You now have more teams, interstate travel, drafts and salary caps, player behaviour is scrutinised (if Jeff Hayword was ever caught smoking marajuana today, he would be sacked for being a bad role model to children). You also have more media scrutiny, different rules and different ways clubs are run nowadays.

So, there would a lot of interesting elements to use in a movie update, and some of these could be incorporated into the new film. Maybe if they did this, they could bring one or two of the characters back. Maybe have John Howard return as Jeff Hayword, who is now president of the club, or as the coach.

What other things, that have changed since the film was made, could be added if, hypothetically, a sequel was made?
