New Blu-ray release

In an interview on the new Cohen Film Collection Blu-ray of City of Women (1980), Tinto Brass (of all people) notes that for Federico Fellini, “the words ‘women’ and ‘cinema’ went hand in hand.” It’s true. From his earlier films that showcased wife Giulietta Masina as his extraordinary muse, to the transfixing goddesses of La Dolce Vita (1960) and 8 ½ (1963), to the women who populated the hyperbolic recollections of Amarcord (1973), Fellini filled his work with diverse and memorable female characters. He approached these women with a deep affinity, a loving affection, and a sexual fascination. Fittingly, then, for a film actually called City of Women, which has issues relating to male-female discord and harmony at its core, all this and more is evident from scene one: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/blu/new-on-blu-ray-city-of-women/
