Soundtrack Similarities?

I have just seen this movie, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It IS a love story, despite the age difference, and I think Burton played it down extremely well.

Tatum, as ever, was just gorgeous...

I felt that it was a very sad and unfullfilling end however, but it really couldn't have ended any other way, given the subject matter.

My reason for commenting on it at all is that the musical score, which was quite good for a fairly low-budget flick, was very reminiscent in parts of similar themes and airs from 1954's "The Egyptian" with Edmund Purdom and Vic Mature.

Perhaps the composer, Bernard Hoffer was giving a little tribute to his late peers, Bernard Herrmann and Alfred Newman......(?)

Did anyone else pick up this similarity?
