So the DVD is definitely not worth getting?

Been a longtime fan of The Children, and had a great VHS copy for years and years until I decided to make some coin and sell it EBay for a pretty high price. I didn't expect it to then go out of print! When I heard that it was getting a DVD release, I was thrilled - until I found out it was Troma that was handling it. I haven't heard anything good about the DVD release - even so far as people saying the picture has random cuts and the sound quality is horrendous. So for those of you who bought or rented the DVD - should I just splurge and get an old VHS again?

Troma's DVD release is HORRIBLE...seemingly scrapped together and edited with a chainsaw, its a choppy, worthless mess. Thankfully I held onto my copy of the Rhino VHS reissue, that is a pristine copy with a clear print and no hissing on the soundtrack. If you're a true fan of this unique cult film, I'd recommend tracking down the VHS again. (There's also another DVD release of this, as part of a boxed set called The Grindhouse Experience...not sure if this is a good copy, however it's clumped together with numerous other films and most likely is a crappy copy).
