Absolutely. Those funky finger nails.

Yeah, the sight of kids incinerating their parents disturbed me when I saw it as a youngster. To a degree, it still does.

reply

yes, whenever I see goth kids with black nails, I still think of this movie.

Oh my gosh, YES, i agree! My mom took me to the theater to see this movie and it scared to living p*ss outa me! I don't know why it's had such a lasting impression on me. I saw much worse as a child... still, it's this movie that terrified me (by far) the most.

I remember watching this as a kid with my grandmother. Yes, my grandmother. She'd stay up late watching horror movies while my sister, cousin & I wait so we could go to sleep in the livingroom where the tv was.

Scared me to death as a child. I will never forget the black finger nails and how the kids would kill people.

I remember later on I'd see kids in school using a Sharpie pen to color their fingernails black. Again it scared me to death.

I can't remember how I was when I saw it with my grandmother but pretty young. I saw it again later in my early teens. It didn't scare me as much just creeped me out but I was shocked at how much I remembered.

I plan on watching it again on Netflix and curious how I will react to it now.

- This movie scared the hell out of me when I first saw it! I remember watching it with my Mom & Dad (twisted childhood I had, I know!) and when it was over I ran in my bedroom and colored my fingernails black with a sharpie and ran to my parents in the living room. They weren't amused in the slightest.
Also, I found a "The Children" poster at a toy show a few years back, and it's still hanging in my room to this day! Glad to see there are other fans of it!

I only saw this once as a child and I still remember it I am 38 now. There was a girl in my school that looked like one of these kids (in my head) I think she had dark circles under her eyes. I just got in touch with her on facebook and it brought back the memories of this movies. I am watching it now on Hulu. Lots of commercials but still just as crazy good.

It freaked me out as a kid too, mostly because of the way the women screeched when they were incinerated.

reply

He-l Yes, it did! LOL. I'm not even sure how I even saw it as a kid--maybe it was on cable one night or I got away with renting it from one of those old family-owned VHS rental places. Whatever the case, it wasn't until many years later in adulthood I did a search for it and wanted to watch it as an adult to see if it still had an effect on me; I came across it a few years ago and watched it: It didn't freak me out as much but it is still a genuinely creepy movie. I'm watching it now on YouTube and just noticed the Friday the 13th score! LOL.

I didn't see it as a child. I believe I was about 19-years-old the first time I watched it. But I have always been a fan of '60s, '70s, and '80s horror movies (especially the low budget, drive-in stuff) so I loved it and still do.

I still remembered this one. It freaked me out given I was only 5 or 6 when I first saw it at a friend's house. Parents were nowhere to be found and we hid our eyes at some of the scenes but could still hear the screaming. Although its more of a nostalgia piece from a childhood long ago, its interesting to recall just how unnerving it was at the time.
