Wish this would be re-released to theaters

Some old movies get re-released to theaters. I wish this one would. I would love to see it on the big screen in surround sound.

Oh hell yes. I would kill to see this film in the theater. I can imagine the sound quality would be SO great. It would be ten times more chilling. And you just can't beat that crystal clear quality the big screens have.

Even a nice re mastered blue ray edition would be nice...all I could ever find is a standard DVD version.

The film is enjoying greater and greater acclaim as time goes on. Perhaps Criterion will add it to their collection, in which case it will undoubtedly be remastered. Until then distribution rights seem presently to be held by HBO; I wouldn't hold out too much hope for Opie or Forrest Gump to take a sudden interest in the film anytime soon.

A bluray will be released in November... in Japan.

I was very fortunate to see this at our base theater back when I was in the Air Force. I knew nothing about The Changeling, hadn't seen any previews or trailers, but a bunch of friends wanted to get together and do something that weekend, so..
It was a good crowd and there was a lot of serious gasps and screams thru-out the entire movie. I came away with my right arm bruised and scratched by the girl next to me. It was an unexpected great experience. I was so seriously impressed by this movie and never forgot it and have been championing its virtues ever since.

I remember my parents taking me in first grade to see it at the Bay Theater in Ballard (Seattle, WA). I fell in love with it then and its never removed from my number one fave spot. They used to show it out here on channel 11, but that was back in the 80s, and of course with DVD, it's a monthly watch.
