Versions And Runtimes

I admit that I'm fascinated by this film and have collected a few different versions of it in the hopes of stumbling upon the complete 94 minute version. No dice so far, but I figured I'd sit down and compare at least the runtimes of the different versions that I've collected. If anyone has the Troma DVD please post it's total duration.

SATAN'S SUPPER -- Academy Films VHS, 82 minutes 20 seconds , very grainy and pallid looking transfer. Missing all of the footage showing them going to then in Las Vegas at the nightclub. Video wipe title SATAN'S SUPPER before the film begins. Stated runtime: 94 minutes.

SHIVER -- Brentwood/BCI DVD from the "Tales From The Boneyard" 4 Disc Set, 86 minutes 47 seconds , shows them at the nightclub in Las Vegas but missing the scene where they are in the car on the way there. Re-title SHIVER inserted during the first dream sequence with a lazy edit that jumps right to the nightclub act. Stated runtime: "Approx. 94 minutes".

THE NIGHTMARE NEVER ENDS -- Mill Creek DVD from the "Nightmare Worlds" 50 Movie pack, 87 minutes 50 seconds , has all of the footage in the car and at the nightclub in Las Vegas. What looks like an in-print title of THE NIGHTMARE NEVER ENDS before the film starts. Stated runtime: 88 minutes.

THE NIGHTMARE NEVER ENDS -- Premier Entertainment International VHS, 82 minutes 26 seconds , appears to be an identical transfer as the SATAN'S SUPPER tape (or vice-versa) though the picture and sound quality of this one is noticeably better and the color is much better than either of the two DVD versions described above. Missing all of the footage involving Las Vegas. Re-title card still of THE NIGHTMARE NEVER ENDS before film starts. Stated runtime: 94 minutes.

If anyone has any other versions especially the Troma DVD please let us know how long it runs.

I have the Troma release of the film and a VHS of it as Cataclysm. I don't have the films on hand so I can't tell you the run time of those versions. But have you seen Night Train to Terror? It is an anthology film featuring shortened versions of three Philip Yordan films. This being one of them. In that shortened version of this movie there seems to be scenes in it that I have never seen from any version of the full film. They are stop motion animated horror scenes that seem to have been totally cut from any version of the film I have seen. Those scene possibly could fill up the films supposed 94 minutes.

I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.

Those added special effects scenes were filmed specifically for the Night Train to Terror version.

The VHS copy I have is from Genesis Home Video released in 1987 with the title Cataclysm. It says on the box that the run time is 94 minutes. The cover art features a photo of a woman holding a knife and looking possessed.

The Troma release doesn't state how long the film is but my memory is that both my VHS copy and the Troma release run the same time. I don't remember any differences in them. And I don't believe that either one of the is actually 94 minutes. I seem to remember it running closer to around 83 or 84 minutes.

Thanks for this. I admit, I'm a little fascinated by CATACLYSM myself. So, would you say the Premier Entertainment version is the best LOOKING, just so long as you don't care too much about the Las Vegas scene?
