The opening rape scene

I recently got the German dvd for "House On the Edge Of the Park", here titled "Der Schlitzer", which translates into "the cutter." The film is great, and even more well made than i expected. But I have a question about the opening scene where Alex rapes the girl in her car; In my version, from 'Laser Paradise', the scene looks chopped up, with the screen flashing and going black for a second at a time, then returning, then going black again. From what can be seen of the rape, there is not much. I'm just wondering if this is normal, or if I have a censored version. The infamous scene towards the end, where Alex takes the razor to the younger girl is there, so it doesn't make much sense to cut the beginning. If someone has seen the full version, please let me know.

I noticed the same thing. I am guessing that it may have been some sort of effect which was intended, or maybe rubbish film stock, who knows?

brian-kelly6- Which edition have you seen, the US one from Shriek Show, or a region 2 european edition? I'm wondering if there are different versions of this film.

Version from germany called 'der schlitzer'. Is also in english. You can get it on E-bay.

Nice little trivia, the rape victim in the car (in the beginning of the flick) is David Hess' wife :)

Look, it's been swell, but the swelling's gone down.

Yeah, that could be it, if this was an art film. Sadly House On the edge is a film devoid of such artistic film technique. Great movie anyway, the king of sicko home invasion films!

Personally i liked the effect a lot. And David Hess' wife is hot!

yeah, I've also grown to like the black screen flashing effect in the opening rape scene. It gives the illusion that you are seeing more than what is there. This same effect is used in Joe D'Amato's amazing 'Emanuelle & the White Slave Trade,' during some super stylish erotic scenes. I think the 1970's were the absolute best decade for cinema.

Damn right!!! =D But cinema just becomes $#!t in the '80s, unfortunately...

I've seen this too, and thought it was a bad torrent, editing done by the uploader. So, I downloaded another one, just to see, and it still had the same thing. Funny it's only that one scene.

I also torrented this film, so when we got the cuts during the first rape scene I was nervous that I might have had a censored version. Then later on we see the scene with Lisa and Alex and the scene where Cindy is being slashed, so I was a bit confused.

Can I trade in the children for more cash?
