"Anymore information on this release?"
----------------------------------------

As of December 9, 2006, I see no evidence of its release. However, you'll find the following links interesting. Carny was part of a list of films that Warner Bros allowed fans to vote on for immediate release. The top 10 of the "DVD Decision 2006" pool would see release by December 19, 2006. Unfortunately, the numbskulls who voted didn't support Carny with sufficient votes! We'll therefore have to wait longer, probably a year, before they release it, assuming they do. Notice that the POS bomb "Gymkata" was voted among the top 10! Yaaaaarrrggghhhh...

From Amazon review:

http://www.amazon.com/Razorback-Bill-Kerr/dp/B002KAMSGC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1254503461&sr=8-5

I gave this title a one star rating due to the manufacture quality
of the disc(s), not based upon the actual content of the disc(s).
I recently purchased five Warner Archive titles from [...]
Titles purchased were: All The Marbles, Bermuda Depths, Carny,
From Hell It Came and Razorback. On the back cover of each disc it states,
Discs are for use in playback only devices. All five of these discs would
not function correctly. What I mean is that the menu would not come up
on any of them. The screen would just show black with no picture until
I skipped forward to approx 30 to 50 minutes into the film. Then I had
to fast reverse search back to the start of the movie. Upon doing this
the films/discs then played through the films. Quality of the films
themselves I feel is very good. I attempted playback on five different
brands of DVD players with the exact same result. It would seem these M.O.D.
(Manufactured On Demand) titles are either so heavily encrypted with
Macrovision or just so poorly manufactured that playback is very frustrating.
Cover art is extremely lacking in photos and design layout.

Lol, give me a break. There are eighteen combined 4 and 5 star reviews and one 1 star(you posted) review. Here is the link for anyone interested in purchasing:

Those 4 and 5 star reviews are for the VHS format. Looks like the average rating for the DVD version is much lower, about 3 star avg. Others complained about freezing issues, sound quality, etc. I didn't see anyone else though mentioning having to skip forward a half hour, than back in order to see picture. I guess I'll pass on this DVD for now, until Warner Bros. releases an official copy. Too bad, as this flick seems like it would be right up my alley. -Shane

Not sure where you went to school but your math is a bit off. The DVD is not "much lower" at all I saw one 1 star review and one 3 star review that said their copy was a bootleg of terrible quality. The rest were mostly 4 or 5 star reviews. Here is the breakdown as of 6/24/2012 on DVD:

Five star 7
Four star 2
Three star 4(one said it was bootlegged)
Two star 0
One star 1

Average of a 4 star review and if you throw out the lone 1 star review you have an average of 4.2 out of 5.

if i made my guess (based on 10yrs in the video business and a lifelong movie addict)...i think jodie foster prolly bought the rights to this movie and we'll never see a high quality dvd version of this film. just like how stallone bought the rights to his movie "rhinestone" w/ dolly and it will never see the light of day again.
