I Love This Movie!

It's fun. people put way too much into it. It's supposed to be fun, and it is. I love The Leatherman(RIP).

I agree - it's FUN! Here in Australia it was a HUGE hit when it was released - I vividly remember lining up IN THE RAIN outside the cinema to get tickets! Now whenever I stumble onto it on Foxtel cable I end up watching it through to the end, having a giggle every now and then. Those gorgeous sparkly costumes in "The Milkshake" are my favourite. Oh, and don't forget Bruce Jenner in those awful shorts!

It makes New York City look like an appealing and fun place to live, especially back then, even though I know the crime rate was sky high.

You got your pint, you got your pig snacks, what more do you want?

hi - I am in Melb- just watched it AGAIN on foxtel - with husband rolling his eyes at me (yet dancing to Milkshake at the same time!). We use to dress up as the village people in grade 4 and put on concerts at lunchtime...

Great movie. Great soundtrack. long live the village people and Valleries breast.

Which one -- the left or the right?

The Village People are GREAT and you are right, this is a fun movie! I have seen The Village People no less than five times (including the reformed classic lineup in the 80's, classic lineup meaning David, Felipe, Glenn, Alex, Randy, and Ray) and they are extremely entertaining and the best at what they do. And the songs rule too. And they have not one, not two, but THREE bonefide classic pop songs that will last for all eternity. They are obviously having a blast in the movie, and as someone from NYC, I love the NYC flavor the group has. Even though The Milkshake is the longer commercial I have ever seen, I adore this flick. Listen to the lyrics to the actual song "Village People" - that says it all!!

I don't think the group could carry an almost 2 hour movie on their own. That's why 'stars' like Perrine and Guttenburg got so much screen time.

I want to eat their collective butthole.

The Village People's butthole, that is.

reply

Uh?

Well, the way Valerine Perrine looked at the start of the movie, I'd probably bite her ass too!

typical 70's movie. just plane bad

I love this movie too. I watched it way back then when I was just a kid. Now that I've watched it again, I love it even more.

I love this movie too! It's pure FUN... And it certainly deserves a restored Blu Ray release ASAP. After seeing the '80s garbage that is being slapped onto BD lately, this one is -at least- a gem of outrageous disco freakiness... So, Studio Canal... how about it?
