R rated version....how explicit?

I just ordered the R rated version on DVD. I admit I am rather squeamish when it comes to explicit content but curious to see Caligula. So my question is how explicit is the edited R rated version?

Also, I just found out there is a pre-release version in the Imperial edition DVD set. Any thoughts on that as to explicit content?

I saw the X rated one when it came out and I walked out of the theatre after two hours. Basically I was horrified and ready to throw up. Then I saw the R rated one a few years later. MUCH easier to take and nothing that explicit. There's plenty of nudity (mostly female) but all the hardcore footage is gone and the disgusting gore is either shortened or eliminated entirely. Doesn't make it a good movie though.

I have the Imperial edition on DVD but have yet to watch it.

Do they keep that lesbian scene? I admit I think it was beautifully done. The orgy scenes I think are over the top, but it's mostly tame compared to what went on during the Roman Empire. There were other grosser acts which were routine to them.

LOL, sorry, but it took you two hours before you became "horrified and ready to throw up." That seems like a long time to endure something that disgusting.

Maybe the gore/torture scenes would make someone squeamish but why would the sex scenes minus the rapes? Unless you're uptight and prudish about sexuality there's nothing in here to make anyone squeamish IMO. This movie isn't for anti sex/nudity prudes! I understand the sex scenes in Salo being disgusting because most of it was raping and taking advantage of underage kids but Caligula is a different beast and leans more towards the porn crowd more than anything.
