What a great, quality cast. Very good film. Why wasn't this movie more heralded? It ought to be.

shareI wish these comments would at least make sense. If I remember when "Brubaker" was released, it was the same movie it is today. Did it somehow get better? The last comment made no sense.

shareI believe that mike is suggesting that Brubaker wasn't popular or noticeably well-received when it was released in 1980. Perhaps it simply wasn't noticed (i.e. considered "great") due to shifting cultural values as well as the larger emphasis on big-budget films. After a couple of decades, it has gained in popularity and respectability. With 27 years between its release date and now, we've had a chance to examine the film -- along with the 70s-80s cusp.
Makes sense to me.
