You can download the movie at movielink.com. The prob is that you can only rent it (not buy it).

I misread the title on movielink. It is the goofy 1998 version.

Please see another post I made about the copy I purchased if you want more info.

I am interested in obtaining a copy of the 1980 Brave New World VHS but it must be an excellent one. Bad dupes will be of no use. Please tell me more about yours.

Thanks!

What is the price of the DVD? Is it still available?

reply

Yes they are £4, I just got one.

I just bought a copy from www.deaks100.webhop.net. The price was reasonable, the quality is excellent (considering it's age), and I was happy to discover that it's the full 2-part miniseries aired on BBC, NOT the abridged version aired by NBC.

Hi

can you tell me the difference between the abridged version aired by NBC and the full 2-part miniseries aired on BBC? Was one made in 1980 and the other 1998? Or are they different versions altogether to the ones that you mention above?
I'm thinking of buying from Tinker Sales.. Could you tell me what you would rank your copy quality from one to ten.

Thank you for your help,
Maria.

NBC and BBC aired the same film made in 1980. The difference is that the NBC version was edited to fit into a 3-hour time slot. It was originally intended to run in a 4-hour slot, so about 45 minutes was removed (the remaining 15 minutes being commercial time). BBC aired it in its original full length, unedited version.

Allowing for its age, and the fact that VCRs were not very common in 1980, I'd rate the quality of the DVD that I bought from "deaks" about 8 out of 10. I doubt you'll find a better copy anywhere. If you're in the US, you should note that it's in PAL (British) video, and you'll need a multi-system DVD player.

The 1998 version is an entirely different film, with a different cast, with no connection to the 1980 film except that it's based on the same book.

Hi,

I'm having trouble navigating the deaks site. I keep being sent back to the IMDb website.

Can you give me any tips?
Thanks, Shannon
