Just wanted to stop by and say how much I enjoyed this movie (from a visual standpoint). As a first time viewer of the movie, I loved the comedy and music but some of the photography really surprised me.The opening shots were just stunning. Also, the scene in which jake exits the prison looked fantastic.
This is a solid movie. Really glad I finally watched it.
Never looked into this, but Landis' films from this era definitely had a certain look (he even used the same font for the credits). Not sure I can put my finger on it. Maybe he worked with the same guys?

The scene where they're pushing the Bluesmobile into the gas station and the sun's setting in the background is kind of gorgeous.
I also think the look of all the night-time scenes is really good. They remind me a bit of Robby Müller's excellent work on Repo Man (1984).
