How Big Was Their Island?

I don't imagine it as being huge, but I don't imagine it as being tiny, either. How far do you think it was from their side to the other, with the sacrificial altar? A mile? Possibly two at the most? It had fresh flowing water in the form of streams and even a small lake / pond area with presumably fresh water. The streams are probably the result of springs as I highly definitely doubt they were glacier fed (know they weren't actually! lol), and obviously while they did have large rainstorms, they didn't occur everyday or even every other day. There were probably several days between rainfalls.

It also seems that it had to be big enough for them to stay on their side of the island, while far enough away not to be near where they lived with Paddy after he died. (As I said in another thread, I presume it's the same island, and not a different one as a lot of people seem to say in their reviews!).

I say that it had to be AT LEAST a mile long by a mile wide, though not perfectly round or even quite near it. Perhaps it was even a few miles wide by a few miles long, but I don't think it would be much bigger than that. I can't image them, for example, crossing 10 miles to the other side. It was probably much less than that. I can see a mile. I can even see possibly two, but it can't have been much more than that if even that far.

Thoughts and opinions?

The actual island where it was filmed (and where the 1949 version was filmed) is a little more than a mile long and maybe half a mile at the widest. There are several other islands nearby.

Of course, the island in the movie might have been meant to be another size altogether.

Holy cow there are other people alive on this board! Lol!

Anyway that sounds like it might be about right size to me, maybe a little bigger though in the movie island but sounds okay to me.
