very imperfect yet enjoyable film

The movie is filled with errors, poor storyline at times and not so great acting here and there (although overall I thought the acting was good)....I still enjoyed this movie, genuinely liked its characters and some of the themes it touched on. They could have done a much better job making the film more realistic though. Too many gas lamps when it was impossible they could have had any, not enough scenes capturing the hardships of being shipwrecked on an island, and not nearly enough drama during the scene of the ship going down.
