Whoa, this is on DVD?

I rented this about 4 years ago. I was roaming up and down the horror aisle and being a fan of cult horror films from the 70's and 80's this caught my eye. I rented it and enjoyed it. The store was closed down and they sold all of their movies. Unfortunately, someone got to this one before me. Now to my surprise this little film had been released on DVD. Now my question is, how is the quality, to those who own it? Apparently, the company that produced is called Telavista and I have never heard of them so I do not know what to expect. Amazon has it for $21.99 and I don't want to piss away $20 for a crappy DVD. Can anyone help me out?

reply

Well...the quality's so-so.

It's a VHS transfer, it's obvious but honestly - it's the only way to get it without buying a pre-owned VHS and the quality won't be much better.

reply

All right, thanks.

reply

is this dvd release the original uncensored version or the r-rated theatrical version?

reply

It's the version from the original release which says it's rated R but is missing no footage. I haven't seen the Queesy Art Video version but I hear that one's edited.

reply

Not sure what the "uncut" version consists of...it did seem a bit "edited", so it might be the 'R' version.

I honestly don't think more gore could save this HORRIBLE movie!

The DVD transfer is BEYOND horrible. It is from a beat up VHS source & the audio has a low hissssss on it.

To the OP, your better off buying your favorite TV season of something else with those $21 then this dreck.

Oh man, amongst horrible movies this is a Schindler's List or Metropolis kind of achievement. Yes it's bad but that's kind of the point. I've seen too many crap movies that tried to look good. It's nice to see someone happily playing down there in the gutter & coming up with something fun. The uncensored print that the MPAA slapped with an X is the one with Japanese subtitles on it. The home video print on the retail DVD is the cut MPAA approved R rated version.

Very creepy story about the director!
