And Don't Get Me Started on Zab!!

Bad B movie by a B movie director who didn't have the talent to make an original war movie. It's sadly ironic that his most personal movie looks like ANY other badly written, cliched war movie!
And what made it soo wince inducing for me was Fuller's alter ego, Zab.
Where the hell is he getting those cigars at the front? Cigarettes, yes. Tons of cigarettes were donated by tobacco companies to GIs during the war, but cigars? AND HE ALWAYS HAD ONE!!! Well, of course, because he's a hard bitten, wise ass sarcastic writer who I wish had HIS testicles blown off!! Fuller wrote so badly for this film that he made the character who represented HIM cliched!!

Just a big disappointment.

Yeah Zab was absolutely cringeworthy. Fuller cast completely the wrong person in Robert Carradine for the cliche 'hard as nails bad ass solider who always has a cigar in his mouth' character. He just comes off as a scrawny dweeb and makes this truly awful film that bit more awful.

Funny because "Zab" is the representation of Fuller in the movie.
