Are the Germans portrayed fairly in this film?

reply

Maybe. I mean, what do you exactly mean?

-Nam

I am on the road less traveled...

reply

i mean are they portraied as villains?

reply

They generally were not villains, though. They were mostly just normal servicemen fighting for their country.
The Nazis were pretty villainous, sure... but not so much the Germans.

reply

He prob means did they run out from good cover into Allied Fire and get mowed down ...like in the 60s series Combat !...

reply

D'You mean "Did the Germans try to take over the world and gas a bunch of innocent civilians?"

Yeah, that's a fair summnation.

You Fill Me with Inertia.

reply

Or, restated using that logic, "Did the human race try to take over the world and gas bunch of innocent civilians, also using area bombing to kill hundreds of thousands more, and million more of the defeated enemy murdered and starved during the first winter after the war".

Yeah, that's how using the logical fallacy of collective guilt works. Not all Germans were working towards that intent, not even probably a majority were. Until you've lived under a totalitarian regime, best not to judge too harshly the inaction that I guarantee you most of us would take as the route that fear pushes you toward.

reply

No, because it portrays a german shooting other germans when they say bad things about hitler. This can also mislead viewers by thinking the germans were very extreme.
