Soundtrack Really Intrusive

I thought the film was fairly interesting, but wow did the soundtrack really intrude on it, especially the songs done by the female vocalist. It seemed to describe exactly what was going on on film, "drivin' down to Alabam- and drinkin' Jim Beammmmm!" *laughs* A new song seemed to come up every five minutes, especially during the first forty minutes of the film.

what else is there to do when watching this besides humming off to Alabam, right in the eye!

Significance is the popsicle of a melting mind.

Yeah...a better soundtrack would have helped. It wasn't a horrible movie though.

I rather liked the songs, actually. Good blues tunes, and it gave the movie a distinctive feel. The songs give the film a unique film (in comparison to the usual orchestral score you have in most pictures).

reply

Not a bad movie but ALL THE MARBLES is a lot better...

I DVR'd it off TCM Underground last year and just watched it today. There are a lot of music montages. Were these songs written for the film? Seems like they were or either the director/editor tried to make the songs fit. Might be the Holy Grail for Preston fans. Ha.

That was my first impression, but after awhile, I thought, "No, this is great. It really adds to the picture."
