Possible inspiration for The New Daughter?

Isn't the plot of The New Daughter very similar to The Awakening's?
Teenage daughter is possessed by an evil ancient force. Father must kill her to save the world. Archeology/discovering of ancient place involved.
I haven't seen The Awakening, so I am unaware if the differences are more abundant than the similarities. Just pointing out their seemingly almost identical plot.
