Wonderful film

I saw this when it came out, and I was in my early 20's. I really loved it then, and just seeing it again now in my 50's I feel I can relate to the nostalgia Burt is feeling about the way things used to be, even more.

I got to go to AC in the mid 80's, so it was just after the period the movie depicts so sadly all I recall is brand new glitzy type casino's.

There is a resort town in Arkansas called "Hot Springs" that was a real swinging place back in the 1930's. There are some real cool buildings still maintained well in the old downtown section and it has the 'feel' to it that the characters refer to about the old AC. Sadly Hot Springs is changing too though.

I [ never ] get tired of it.

The acting was first-rate especially the rapport between the stars. One feels some empathy for the characters they played. But the characters were rather flat and insipid.
