Better than Jaws!

Well alright it probebly isn't really, but personally I find the rubber alligator much more menacing than the rubber shark.
I love everything about this movie, the characters, the photography, the music, the pacing, the dialogue, the locations, the lighting, the editing, the effects the list goes on. There is no pretension or needless rationalisation, and by not taking itself seriously, Alligator totally fulfills its purpose and becomes a better movie than many others that do take themselves seriously.
I've just seen it for the first time in 15 years, and it still scores.

I like Alligator about as much as I liked Jaws. The one thing I liked more
about this one was the fact that he could actually go from water onto land
and attack instead of staying in the water and that's more scary.

I think both films are equally good. Though the scene where the alligator terrorizes the fancy wedding party at the end may place this one slightly above, but not too much. You can't get any better than that scene, though.

This movie sucked. Terrible predictable pacing that went on way to long and a horrible women lead to boot. You'd have to be ridiculous to compare the two.

This movie is a joke comapred to the legendary masterpiece JAWS.

Anyone who says otherwise is insane.

This is a very well made movie for it's time and without JAWS, we probably wouldn't have had this movie made, this along with GRIZZLY(1976) PIRAHNA, ANACONDA, LAKE PLACID, etc.. The sequel is pretty lousy though so stay away from that..
