Nobody mentioned, "The Crowded Sky" (1960), another airplane disaster movie in which Dana Andrews was partially responsible for a mid-air collision. Dana was the captain of an airliner who was flying his airliner above his assigned altitude in order to "keep the geese (passengers) happy". Efram Zimbalist is a flying a navy jet that collides with the airliner.

Fifteen years later, in "Airport 75", Andrews is flying a twin engine airplane that collides with a jetliner, piloted by Zimbalist.

Mr. Awareness sez: Invested as I thought I was in air disaster drama and docu, I never caught that before.

Then there's Robert Stack as Howie Came Unglued in High and Mighty. And how hard it got to watch Zero Hour without laughing.
