The 'Consolidated Company'

Ever notice very little is ever revealed about what exactly it is the people working for the company do or what it is? Sounds more like logistics than anything else. When Violet is sitting at her desk doing figures for transportation and an Ajax warehouse for inventory is about the closest you get a clue as to what it is

reply

I agree. I've always wondered what kind of company it was.

Cmon guys, you can figure it out.

With the Ajax inventory, they must sell or supply products (not sure what) to either other companies.

I am assuming each secretary or office worker is responsible for X number of accounts within the system.

The word "Consolidated" might mean there are different sources of inventory (Ajax being one of several).

The corporation "Consolidated Companies" must be the parent company that oversees the whole business.

Back in 1981 to 1986 I worked for PARAMOUNT PICS

Back then they were part of GULF & WESTEN a Conglomerate

G & W also had Simon and Schuster books & a few other outfits.

Maybe the above was a nod to G&W, like Engulf etc in SILENT MOVIE

reply

Why would a movie produced and distributed by 20th Century Fox do a 'nod' to Paramount Pictures parent company? (Paramount was still under Gulf & Western during the time 9 to 5 was released). Doesn't make sense.

reply

Ajax housed "Widgets"
