Liberal fantasy

This movie is so 2016. You have evil white males in charge oppresing poor women. As soon as the male is gone, everything suddenly gets better. Walls get painted, everyone gets paid the same, working hours are "flexible" now, you get kindergarden nearby, racial and handicapped quotas are introduced. And somehow the productivity goes up. That last part is a little hard to believe though.

Yes, it's called progress.

reply

No, it’s called fantasy.

reply

It's a naive, child-like leftist wet dream.

reply

It is that indeed.

I give it a pass though, it’s a very well made comedy and the cast are great together, and while modern feminism is an absurd man-hating cult, back in the 70’s women did experience some legit harassment and unfair treatment.

reply

So the movie was inspirational to many apparently.

I haven't seen this film for years. But it was funny. Maybe a "liberal fantasy". But really, it did address the needs of working women who are mothers. They do have different needs than men who have wives at home to take care of the kids.

I used to substitute teach and sometimes a teacher (female) would call in that morning. They were rarely sick. It was their children who were sick and so mom had to use a sick day. Dads just don't use their sick days for sick kids. Moms do. That's just the way of the world. Nothing political.
