who reported morant?

does anybody know who actually reported the shooting of boer prisoners and the reverend? was it taylor, drummond, sharpe or botha? i think it could have been drummond, he seemed to hold a grudge, or botha, for obvious reasons.

ah, its a hard one to answer, i actually think it was Taylor... although he was the CO over Morant and Morant basically ran Fort Edward, but yeah - i think it was Captain Taylor ... also he said later on in the film "They dont want me. Being intelligence and all that." and something about Kitcheners staff aswell.

reply

hm... ok, but he testified on their behalf. and i think he got the same problems as morant BECAUSE he was his superior. plus, handcock told thomas it wasnt taylor ("he was a good bloke"), but if course, he couldnt be sure.

and what about robertson? he was replaced by morant and discharged from his post, so he might have tried to take revenge.

reply

It wasn't Captain Taylor, he was supportive of the shootings.

According to Witton's book, it was a native servant who reported the incidents. Sort of like the boy told other people, who told other people, who told the 'right' people.

thanks!

I'm reading that book now. I think I read that the execution of Wisser and the 8 prisoners was actually reported up through the normal chain of command and was known well before anyone was accused of anything.

Timmie, if you don't bring that rocketship back this instant, you'll get the spanking of your life!
