All three were excellent but Thompson towers and should most certainly have been nominated.

with or without oscars, I'm so glad they did this!

Great character-acting from all three protagonists, but Thompson stole the show for me.

Such an absorbing drama from start to finish, and the supporting actors certainly helped move the story along.

Edward Woodward really surprised me in this film - I didn't think he could carry pathos & emotion in his acting armory, but he pulled it off very well.

But it's to the very underrated (and relatively unheard of,) Jack Thompson, that I found to be a complete joy throughout!

Compelling drama: well done to all

Thompson was great, but for me it was Edward Woodward. After seeing this I looked for other films with him. Found "The Wicker Man". He was good in it, though it's no "Breaker Morant".

Everyone was brilliant in this film. The cinematography was outstanding. Foreign films rarely get nominations for Academy Awards. I remember that Siskel and Ebert both recommended this film.
