Episode, The Death List

While I have not by any means seen this entire series, one of my absolute favorites that I just had the pleasure of viewing again recently is "THE DEATH LIST, where Hacker is targeted by assassins. Watching the Minister's terrified reactions to all of the horrible ways that one can meet his demise by the hand of an unsavory terrorist is simply hilarious on every level. Never pull the car up on the pavement side of the traffic lane for fear of carjacking, hit enemy cars in the axle area and not in the middle as to sweep it out of the way, car bombs, parcel bombs, poisoned gifts of food or drink, hypodermic poisoning of the milk bottles, the poison needle in the umrella jabbed into the calf, accidents such as being pushed into traffic/rivers/or the electric rail. Tinkering with the television, toatser, kettle, or the electric blanket...electrocution, one of the assassin favorites!!! Poor Jim is left speechless with fear, LOL!

I absolutely love the way he does an about face and is suddenly in favor if telephone tapping and spyware, something he had just stood against earlier in the episode. He is now fully willing to rationalize the use of this unscrupulous method when it can suddenly be used to protect him. So funny, with Sir Humphrey agreeing all the way!

I also particularly loved Jim and his wife's vacation...acompanied by all the security at every tun. The scene featuring the lovely stroll in the woods as they reflect on the peace and tranquility and all of the body guards are revealed to be all around them is priceless. At the restaraunt, "a table for eight please", bwahahahaha! I really enjoyed their visit to the James Bond film Moonraker, especially when the scene in the movie depicted an assassination that caused a sickedned Jim to want to leave. I was laughing so hard!

This is one of the very first episodes I had ever seen of YES, MINISTER and I suppose I just have fond memories of it. I have yet to see an episode that isn't extremely well written or performed masterfully. I just had to write about this one in particular after getting to revisit it again.

OK, so what's the speed of dark?

Yeah, I can't think of a weak episode in any of the series. However, this one tends to stand out for me simply because it has Graeme Garden and the Yes Minister cast all in one room.
