Was the original series made up of 12 episodes? In the DVD copy that we have been watching, the series ends at episode 11 where David becomes headmaster and Christine has gone to Canada. Does she return and they get married? If the series continues, why would they leave it off the DVD? Can anybody help?

I finished the series this evening. It has 13 episodes. In video, the
final tape (#5) has episodes 12 and 13.
There are 4 episodes on the 4th disk of the DVD set. The menu is a bit confusing. When you click on "Episodes" it first gives you the option to choose between episodes 10 and 11 -- but at the bottom of that screen there is an option for "next" or "more" or maybe just an arrow pointing right. If you click on that, it takes you to a second episode menu that allows you to choose between 12 and 13. Check it out because there's a LOT of interesting stuff to come in the final two installments!

shareThanks so much for clearing this up! I received the DVD set as a present earlier this week, and have watched the first three discs (3 episodes apiece) each night. At the end of Episode 11, which I thought was the end of the 4th disc, you can imagine how I was left feeling exceedingly disappointed & let down to think that the whole series led up to just that. I even "surfed around" the disc, visiting the main menu, etc. - still couldn't find it and gave up. But apparently I missed the right button!
I have been mystified all day, since various websites describe "13 episodes!" Should have come here first... :)
The DVD cover really should be redesigned somehow to indicate that there are four episodes in the last disc.
I am going to pop disc 4 back in and sip a glass of champagne as I enjoy the final two installments.

shareYes, there are 13 episodes but 12 and 13 are hidden and hard to find on the last disc. Play around with the arrow on the bottom of the screen and you will locate them. A great series.
