Theme Tune

Is it me? I have always associated this series (which is truly wonderful IMO) with the theme tune, "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind"

Was it originally used or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I vaguely remember another period drama called "Forgive Our Foolish Ways" which used that theme tune and which may have been set in a school. There is an IMDB entry on that programme, giving a date of 1980 but very little other information.

I prefer the piano closing theme.
