Who remembers this?

I keep telling my mates about this 80s classic, but nobody ever seems to have heard of it! They certainly don't believe that Jeff Goldblum ever did television. So come on, own up - who remembers this? :-)

This show is how I discovered Jeff Goldblum. I was 11.

"Because I'm chaos, it is my destiny to destroy" -- Jeff Goldblum as "Mr. Frost."

reply

Likewise! I was 13 and at a very impressionable age!

I just wonder when it'll get repeated...

I was 28 years old when it premiered. That was when I first met Jeff. Ben had been on Roots and danced at the White House. I really liked the show.

reply

It's a show I loved as well. It's one a few shows which I hope will hit DVD soon.

Does anybody know of any sites out there? Perhaps (fingers crossed) there may even be a society out there who is -even as we write - pushing to have it brought back/repeated/put on DVD...?

Perhaps we could start something then? ;o)

There may indeed be a "Tenspeed Society," but this is the only site I've seen so far with a petition for a DVD release of the series:

With 205 votes, it's not entirely neglected, but I don't think it's breaking any records, either. ¬_¬

Say which show was the one you liked best? I would say mine is where Tenspeed played the part of an arab trying to sell a hotel. My wife and daughter love watching these shows over and over. Let me know which one you like.

I remember this show, I was 15 when it aired.

I love this series! I watched every episode and will definitely be purchasing the new DVD box set of the series! Simply brilliant! Accolades and kudos to all who collaborated on this excellent series!
It made me a lifelong fan of Jeff Goldblum, who is one of the most clever and talented actors in Hollywood. His subtle nuances in his acting style are both clever and comical. And Ben Vereen was riding high from his starring role in ROOTS (1976) and is also a clever and talented actor. Thank you, Stephen J. Cannell, for this memorable series! Cannell had the midas touch, everything he produced turned to gold. He is one of my all-time favorite TV producers and writers. I was saddened by his recent passing, and had written him several fan letters over the past 30 years. I was only disappointed that his planned 2005 theatrical film remake of WISEGUY never got made. It would have been fantastic!

I was in grade school when this came out. I remember that Jeff played a Art teacher. In the first episode he gets red paint on his brown shoes. I recalled it so Clearly, because I had a Art Teacher in grade school, and his looked a little like Jeff Goldblum, and he wore Brown shoes..all the time, even with a black tux. The day after the first episode aired, everyone started calling him "Brown shoes", or Mr. Whitney. I also develop a crush on Jeff Goldblum.

I think that I watched about half of the episodes. The things that pop in my memory were the pilot movie, when Ben puts something like Ajax in his hair to make himself look older, Ben challenging Jeff to a fight saying he's an 8th degree blackbelt and Jeff saying "Good, so am I", and the episode where Jeff shoots the gun out of the bad guys hand and then lets everyone know that he is also an excellent marksman.

I'm the best there is at what I do, and what I do ain't pretty.

I remember it well. Good show. Jeff is going to be in a new series on NBC. It made me think of this show. I'm surprised ABC hasn't put it on DVD to captialize on Goldblum's return to tv.

reply

I do! I do! Great fun! Too short lived!!!!

Hopefully Cannell will be able to get it out on DVD.

I watched this series and found it to be great. The Mike Savage out takes and Jeff Goldblums nieve style makes the show a classic. This is a show that needs to come back on TV Land or something. I have seen this advertised on other web sites. I think I still have it saved somewhere.

reply

Don't your mates have internet? They can find out right away if your telling the truth or not. I remember this show well it is the funniest and better written ones around. Did you see the episode called Larry list of looser's, it is the one where Mike Savage actually shows up in one of the scenes at the police station. We watched it last night and could't believe it when we saw it. Great show, hope it comes out on a collectors series or something.
