3 or 5 episodes?

My friend swears he had this on video and it is only 3 episodes, but the guides all say it is 5 episodes. He's bringing them this weekend for us to watch. Does anyone know why his only has 3 episodes? Are they heavily edited for video or something?

reply

It was heavily stretched out for broadcast.

The DVD set is the complete series.

I have bought the blue ray collection. There are 3 discs, including bonus material, but I am not sure how many chapters are there (I believe five)

Imdb lists 5 episodes of different lengths with a total of 9:07 on the title page.

Originally a ten-hour TV miniseries narrated by Orson Welles, it was later reissued for television in a somewhat shortened version with narration by Anne Bancroft.

The DVD release represents the original broadcast version, except that only part 1 has opening credits and only part 4 has closing credits (presumably removed to avoid repetition).

So which one do you think has the best to offer for the complete experience?

From my country, the only access available to this 1980 shogun is through piracy, and this series had so much version with barely anyone clearly distinguish the difference.

The only version i was able to search for download is the DVD miniseries with 5 disc (disc 1-4 for episode, disc 5 for bonus scene), bluray movie 125 minutes version, or bluray with part 1-3 separated

I haven't watch any, didn't have TV then.
The movie was 2:39 originally and has it's own Imdb page.
