Sequel About His Daughter In Works At ABC

The project, from Leverage creator John Rogers and Eva Longoria’s UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, will keep the fun, action-packed style of the original as it follows Magnum’s daughter, Lily “Tommy” Magnum, who returns to Hawaii to take up the mantle of her father’s PI firm. She and her tribe of friends mix tropical beaches with the seedy underbelly of international crime and modern espionage, even as she tries to unravel the mystery of the blown spy operation that ended her career in Navy Intelligence.

My first response is UGH!

I would have to know more and whether a female P.I. would work for me and whether a continuation of Magnum P.I. is a good way to go. Very skeptical but would need to see how this would work whether Selleck would occasionally appear on the show....but even then still UGH! Won't rule it out but not likely.

I'm sure you would of been pissed off, If they would of done a remake of the TV series

reply

No way, I would watch this version of Magnum PI. It would have to be an actor, not an actress. I might go for somebody like Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who is fun on the show "Pitch".

reply

It would have too be an actress, since Magnum had a daughter on the show and not a son.

Silly person! This is Hollyweird we are talking about. Of COURSE it could be an actor. The trans gendered daughter of Thomas Magnum! Pschaw!

It's been over 30 years since the show ended. I'm pretty sure he could have had a son by now.

Hmmm

If Selleck would guest star I'd be on board for this idea.

He has said that he's not interested. I don't think he likes the idea of the project.

I take it this never went anywhere? If it did actually get made and I simply missed it, I'd be interested in having a look, at least out of curiosity. Who knows -- probably just an attempt to cash in on the old show's popularity, but it might actually be good.

As for the reboot, though, I've never watched an episode, even though my husband occasionally does. From what little I've seen, it doesn't feel at all like Magnum, so it'd be like watching some random show, and I don't see the point.
