Charlie Boy

I just love this episode.I love the end part when he starts calling Charlie Boy "A Little Bastard !".Brilliant ! Its like straight out of EC comics Scary Horror with a bit of comedy thrown in Very Good episode.

Agreed. This was the first episode I saw of the series and the only one I remembered from watching it when I was a kid. I was very happy when I got the boxset because Charlie Boy was every bit as good as I remembered it.

reply

Yep totally agree. Not seen "Charle Boy" for some time. One of the most memorable for me. Great cast too!! Can't help chuckling at the evil "Scarface" guy...the man who tries to run them off the road.

reply

My problem with that episode is that I have never really liked Cathy Tyson. I don't have much against her, it's just that Mona Lisa is one of my very least favourite films and she has been marked by association.

reply

I gotta say i loved Charlie Boy too, i thought it was a great episode... i should just point out that it's not Cathy Tyson in the main female role it's Angela Bruce...

The only thing that puzzles me about Cb is who is running the knife or whatever over Charlie Boy to make the old housekeeper woman kill herself - cos someone had to do that... which made me believe there was something else going on - that's the only hole in the plot as far as i can see.

reply

That's right! And Angela Bruce is even worse.... Any programme where she is in a relationship with a man seems totally artificial.

reply

This was a really disturbing episode - great performances all round!

reply

Is Angela Bruce gay then? It clearly doesn't matter as I though the 2 main characters made a very believable couple. Wasn't convinced in her job as a model though...

reply

I know this was posted a few years back, but if you're still wondering...

What happened was that he stuck the knife into Charlie Boy while looking at a photograph of his brother, director friend, the housekeeper, his girlfriend and himself. And everyone died in that order. Obviously when he stuck the knife in while feeling angry, he was only thinking of his brother and didn't realise that everyone in the photograph would be included in the curse.

I used to hate Charlie Boy but it has matured quite nicely for me. Maybe it's old age ;)

The question is, if you saw an exact replica of Charlie Boy in a junk shop someday, would YOU buy it after watching this episode?

just watched this episode. yes I started laughing when he kept calling him a little bastard, almost gets run over by a car and hes "your gonna have to try better then that you little bastard" or something like that haha. I recognized so many people in this episode. the main guy, I literally just watched him in the movie Tess, which had come out the year before. in fact there are 2 people in the movie Tess that were both in Hammer horror episodes, the old guy from "the 13th hour" who hosts the party, and this guy. man that black girl was FUUUGLY! and did anybody recognize captain needa from the 2nd star wars?

anyway, found it kinda upsetting that Charlie boy wasn't burned and that that the guy got stabbed with the daggers that were in Charlie boy. however how the hell did CB drop on the floor and then end up behind the fire? voodoo magic or something? all in all not a bad episode, but damnit every episode seems to end without the good guy winning, theres always a twist which I guess makes it creepier but kinda unsettling.

Realism, Remakes and Unnecessary Sequels are ruining movies!

If I recall correctly, Graham slipped on the tomahawk that had fallen onto the stairs, and this caused him to drop Charlie Boy.

......Charlie's turn!!!

A very good episode, in my opinion.
