A very good Show!

I know I am the only person in the world that liked the show. I have my reasons. Let me start by saying that Battlestar Galactica is my favorite show ever! Closely followed by Star Trek.

There are a few things that hurt Galactica 1980. First is Dr. Zee. I hate shows that have a kid as the know it all genius. Lost in Space handled the kid being smart and being a kid at the same time perfectly. This show does not. I don't know why Glen A. Larson would come up with this idea. Second, the cylons are only in one episode. One reason probably being the budget. Finally it is hurt by the show taking place more on earth than space.

Now to the reasons why it is a good show. Kent Mccord and Barry Van Dyke are great. They have great chemistry and remind me of the great chemistry Starbuck & Apollo had. Secondly the woman who portrayed Jamie also does a great job and has good chemistry with the guys. I also enjoyed Richard Lynch as the bad guy at the beginning. He is the best bad guy TV ever had. I did not care for Lorne Greene's beard and a smaller role. It is a plus to still have Boomer on the show. Now he's taked Tigh's position. Finally I think the stories are very good also and the excellent music is still there.

Maybe people hate it because they are comparing it to the greatest show ever. I know that I wish they had released this on DVD with Battlesar. I bought a bootleg on Ebay and am watching it right now. Great show, no respect.

THANK YOU!

I thought it was well done for what I thought it would be like! Besides my sister once said before Galactica 1980 they would get to Earth and found a bunch of mutants because of Nuclear Holocast.

I saw both shows as a kid, but due to circumstance, I never saw the beginning or end of either show, so the two has absolutely no continuity between them in my mind. So what I was bothered by the most was where the hell did Apollo, Sheba and Starbuck disappear to? I think all the other changes I could have grown used to, if only they had kept the characters that I grew to know and love in the original show! After all, the other changes were unusual to me, but the plots weren't uninteresting and I even liked the new characters (other than Jamie. Sorry, she was like the Lois Lane of this show, and I never much cared for Lois either).

I used to have a , but damnit do I want a !

The last episode is about a dream that Doctor Zee as and he is telling Adama about the dream! The dream is about Starbuck crashing on a desert planet that he named Planet Starbuck! HUMMM! Wonder where that name come from? LOL!

Anyway he finds a crashed Cylon radier and reactivates one of the Cylons and turns him into a good friend! Then Cy the Cylon finds this very beautiful woman who's with child! She keeps refering to it speaking to Starbuck, "Our Child." Supposely the way it ended Starbuck is still on the Planet Starbuck and there is the Hint Hint Starbuck is somehow Doctor Zee's daddy!

I like this series. I dont take it as something that is too serious, just as a peice of fun, which it is.

Living in Australia we got Battlestar Galactica (the original series) in 1979. I LOVED this show and would watch it religiously.

Unfortunately, I also never got to see the whole series, and so watched it the following year(1980)in reruns at 5PM Friday afternoons. I watched the entire series. Then, one day, for some weird reason, Adama had a beard and there was a blonde kid and super kids. Not only this, but Apollo and Starbuck looked different and some of the other characters were missing. I still loved the series, but couldnt work out what had changed or why.

It wasnt until I came here that I realised here in Australia they added Galactica 1980 onto the end of the original series...It wasnt until I came here that I even realised that it wasnt meant to be Starbuck and Apollo as the main characters. I was only 8 when I first saw it.

Ive bouught a bootleg from eBay since and, I have to say, while it is lacking when compared to the original series, it is still fun to watch. Personally, I prefer the theatrical/TV cut of the film 'Battlestar Galactica: The Conquest Of The Earth' which is made up of bits and peices of episodes from this series, most notably 'The Night The Cylons Landed Parts 1 & 2'. But the series is still fuun to watch.

Thank you so much! I'm sorry I never got to see this episode. It sounds interesting. And also, it's weird to hear how my suspicions of who the heck Dr. Z has collided with what turned out to be the "truth". I suspected he was a "second generation", I just thought he might have been Apollo and Sheba's son...

All of you people are delusional. Galactica 1980 is in the top ranks of one of the worst spinoffs of all time and one of the worst scifi serise ever period!!! I mean where can you get space men traveling back in time to defeat the Nazis and other bad plots?

Come away from your false idols and embrace the new serise on Scifi its the only way people.

A. No one said G1980 was great. We were discussing a particular episode on it which is considered a lot better than the overall show.

B. Even so, I'm sure there are people who do like the G1980 show and there's no need for you to be disrespectful towards them.

C. And you can also be like me, fond of the new version while still loving the original (not G80, the original BSG). What's your problem with that? What's with this "false idols" and "embrace" speech? What do you care if someone feels differently than you, be it since they like both versions or since they prefer the original to the new version, or be it down right not liking the new one? Live and let live. Jerk.

Have you ever seen Star Trek Enterprise? 

The last episode "The Return of Starbuck" was very funny and desevres five stars.

The rest were obviously low-budget with little story, with the same ho-hum appeal as an episode of Adam-12.

I loved the show and I think the only problem was a lack of serious Cylon involvement. I liked, only liked Moore's effort in the first 2 seasons. mad made Cylons were atrocious. No Imperious Leader, boring Centurions and a dull pilot episode. G1980 could have been amazing. Could have seen Cain return and his own fleet in tow then a big battle to finish it off
