Mostly MEN voted for this!

I was just adding my rating for this programme: On the details page, the huge majority of voters are MEN! I notice that men are much more likely to vote on IMDb, but the exception is for shows that appeal more to women. I watched Thika last week for the second time. I had seen it several years ago. I loved it both times- It really seems to be a drama that would be watched by a lot more women than men. Hmmm....

Changing the subject: It was delightful to recognise Holly Aird as the young star of the show. In recent years, I watched her on Trevor Eve's Waking The Dead. Co-incidentally, Eve's wife Sharon Mughan is in Thika. The DVD extras go so far as to wrongly credit Trevor Eve himself working alongside the child Holly in Flame Trees of Thika!

That's because many of us men had a huge crush on Hayley Mills when we were kids ... sure, she's more than 20 years older than me, but she's still my first love! LMAO!!!!

I think you nailed it. I just picked this up on swapadvd.com because Haley Mills is in it. I grew up with a crush on the Haley Mills twins in Parents Trap...and she's 32 years older than me.
