You will NEVER see this on DVD, or TV again

Tom Hanks bought the rights to this horrible TV show, so nobody could see it again. As he career took off he viewed this sitcom as an embarrassment. He bought the rights to eliminate any possibility of this entering syndication or DVD.

i saw this early this morning on TBS at about 4 and 4:30

Tom Hanks is very proud of this show. They wanted to do a reunion and it was "the other guy" who said "No." Hanks would have done it.

I don't know if Hanks bought the rights -- it doesn't seem likely -- but the show has been running on Saturday mornings for months, two episodes per pop. Hanks has said he's proud of it and of how hard they worked on it, and that his being hired for the pilot got him his SAG card.

I watched BB in first-run and loved it then. I'd seen it here and there since then, but when I found it on TBS this time round, I TiVoed the whole thing. I just finished BB today. It's still very funny (although perhaps not quite as funny as I remember it being back then) and the performances are sometimes pretty raw, but the cast is winning. I still like the show a lot.

Hanks has said that he was very proud of this show. Also to this day he remains close with Peter Scalori and Wendie Jo Sperber.

Sadly, Sperber passed away on Tuesday. Hanks has nothing but nice things to say about her in all of the articles that I read. Also it also turns out that the charity that Sperber created in 2001 (weSPARK), Hanks was a major financial contributor, as well as was very active in the charity as well.

As for alot of Hollywood big stars, they seem to turn their back on the smaller TV shows that made them famous. Tom Hanks, is the complete opposite. He seems truly genuine and does not forget his TV "roots".

There were two episodes on back to back just the other night, on TBS. Tom Hanks is hilarious and doubt he'd be embarrassed, why would he? He made lots of money acting like that and if I made millions, I wouldn't care how stupid or done something embarrassing. Look at Forest Gump and The movie Big, is he embarrassed about those? I think I'd be buying the rights to those as well and forbidding anyone seeing myself in those movies.

HAH! Aren't you glad you're wrong, so wrong, hahahahaha.

Interesting post, considering I just finished watching the first season on DVD.

reply

Yeah, and the fact the second season DVD set (and a 'complete series' box as well) was released today.

OP: OOPS!

Wait a minute... who am I here?

Is it possible he may have bought the rights in order to get it released. This is what "The Goodies" did in the UK, because the BBC refused to release it on DVD.

reply

How odd, the DVD set I'm watching right now must not exist... ;)

Obviously you have never seen the show or you wouldn't make this horrific assumption. Bosom Buddies was a brilliantly funny show and Hanks has always mentioned it with pride. I see the letters TXS in your name...so we can all assume how you managed to come up with this ridiculous idea.

It`S so funny when people make presumptions and talk about them as if they knew it was the truth.

I bought the complete 1st season on DVD at Big Lots for $8! I love it!
