It's playing on ME TV now and some cheap bastards wouldn't pay for the original theme song and they've got some other horrible song in the opening credits.

I came here to see if anyone had posted about this. That's just terrible! This was one of my favorite shows back then, Tom Hanks is just a riot. It's such a glaring misstep.

I actually found a link that shows this song as the theme song, perhaps in the first season. If you scroll down this page there's a question about Stephanie Mills and it takes you to a YouTube page of this opening. So perhaps "My Life" was for the second season only?

"My life" was used in both seasons in the original ABC brodcasts, while "Shake Me Loose" was used as the end credits instrumental closing theme. The vocal version by Stephanie Mills was been the new theme in rerun syndication and on DVD.

I didn't even know it was Stephanie Mills. It's an awful replacement of My Life.

They're too cheap to pay for Billy Joel's "My Life" which was so good. Look at other DVD's. "Married With Children" dropped Sinatra's "Love and Marriage" replacing it with horrable muzak. Ruins the experience.

Every so often, you can catch "My Life" in the reruns. When TBS aired the show in the mid-2000s, that was the song used.

But yeah, it seems like the Stephanie Mills replacement is the primary theme. I just heard it tonight on MeTV...terrible. So generic...it's almost like the producers knew it was a throwaway theme even back then.

I was coming here to say the same thing!!! I was afraid they had a season or two with another song.

I just came here to post this very same thing I'm watching an episode right now and instead of the Billy Joel song they're playing some other kind of crap

Boston and Philly love to slander us, but they don't have as many fans as us

I dont so much mind the Stephanie Mills version, maybe since the show runs only two seasons they should just use it for the later season 2 episodes.

The odd thing about 'My Life' is that the Bosom Buddies version used as the theme is a COVER and not even the original sung by Billy Joel, so the rights issue to use it on repeats is kinda odd.

Billy Joel should be giving that song to the syndicators for FREE! It was the best exposure the song ever got, and can be interpreted, inadvertently, as a queer anthem...
