Ulysses

I have just started watching this, but am already wishing someone would devote the same time and effort to filming Ulysses. I did enjoy the previously filmed versions, but it really needs to be a 15-hour epic like this. I am really enjoying the way Fassbinder has translated the stream-of-consciousness style of the novel to the screen and think it would be great way to approach Joyce's novel.

I agree--although Ulysses is so heavily based on the interior thoughts of characters and the virtuoso shifting of the language that I can't imagine it could ever be a great movie.

The Circe chapter made me think of Buñuel the first time I read it.

I agree with you. The previous attempts have not really been satisfactory. I would love to have seen the late, great Fassbinder have a go..
